Snowflurries in Atlanta . . .

On January 7th, 2017 a great snowstorm threatened our safety here in Atlanta. There was talk of snow and lots of rain, with low temperatures, which can only lead to devastation and catastrophe. Everyone prepared for the worst . . .

In preparation for the storm, and to keep us entertained, we invited some friends over to spend the night. We had dinner together, put the kids to bed, played board games, then went to bed, unsure what the night would bring.

The storm was scheduled to hit in the evening and would continue on into the night.

We all awoke around the same time (thanks kids, we love waking up at 6:30AM every day) and hurried to the window to see what the night and brought. The cars, trees, and everything in site was layered with ice . . . and about half an inch of snow. It was beautiful . . .

Ok, back to reality. We had snowflurries. It was cold. Everyone had that right. And it was pretty icy. I would say the scariest aftermath of the storm was our front porch, that has no handrails. It was a huge sheet of thick ice, and since the sun doesn't hit it most of the day . . . it stayed that way for a few days.

The temperature remained low for a few days, so the sheets of ice on our porch and deck were a little unsafe, but that aside, the kids loved the snow and ice. They enjoyed sledding down our driveway, playing outside with the neighbors, and attempting the make snowballs . . . alas, the snow wouldn't pack. We made the most of our snowflurries and "snowdays". This storm won Jada 3 days out of school for "snowdays". Score!
